During the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 4, 2024, LVMM participants and others stepped up to support a major relief effort to deliver truckloads of much needed supplies and hope to the Asheville community, devastated by Hurricane Helene. Spearheading the effort is LVMM brother Josh Meadows and his Neighborhood Hope team, in concert with the Asheville Dream Center. (www.ashevilledreamcenter.org)
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, tons of food, personal care items, and more were shipped from Charlotte to a pop-up distribution center at Revol Church on Asheville’s north side, where a team of fellow Christian volunteers served as all hands-on deck in this enormous operation to help people in great need.
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18 ESV
The Oct. 1 operation is documented here in photos.
